Metamorphic Workshop

The Metamorphic workshop embodies a process of systematic transformation in design thinking, addressing critical gaps in pre-professional architectural education. This intensive program serves as both foundational preparation and a platform for methodological development, engaging participants in iterative design processes that cultivate critical thinking and creative exploration.

Through hands-on investigation, the workshop empowers participants to develop individual design perspectives while fostering collaborative learning environments. Beyond technical skill development, Metamorphic establishes professional networks and peer relationships that extend beyond the workshop duration—forming what we term a collaborative ecosystem.

The 2019 Metamorphic Workshop theme, "Room in the City," engaged students in observing and reimagining Shenzhen's urban landscape through small-scale architectural interventions. Participants critically analyzed local contexts while engaging in design challenges that provided exposure to diverse architectural principles and design strategies within an immersive learning framework.

This pedagogical approach demonstrates how intensive workshops can accelerate design education while establishing foundational thinking methods essential for architectural practice.
